Know the exact value of every pip movement
A pip (Point In Percentage) is the smallest standard price movement in a currency pair. For most pairs, one pip equals 0.0001 (the 4th decimal place). For JPY pairs, one pip equals 0.01 (the 2nd decimal place).
The pip value formula is: Pip Value = (Pip Size / Exchange Rate) Γ Contract Size Γ Lots
For USD-quoted pairs like EUR/USD, the pip value per standard lot is always $10 when your account is in USD. For other pairs and account currencies, the value is converted using live exchange rates.
Knowing your pip value is essential for calculating position sizes, setting stop losses, and understanding the dollar impact of price movements. This calculator uses live exchange rates updated daily for accurate real-time calculations.
